I had a bit of a realization today..I enjoy shooting seniors a whole lot more than I do teaching them. It’s just so nice to be one-on-one and get to know all about them and their stories. Senior year is just so hard because it’s one big countdown and really hard to stay present when you’re making all these plans for your future. I so get it and even though my senior year was 22 years ago (YIKES!)…I remember that feeling oh so well. I had so much fun meeting and shooting Weslie, a senior at Los Alamitos High School, and getting to know her and her plans for the future. She’s planning to attend University of Arkansas in the fall, where she has family nearby.
Senior shoots are so different from anything else I shoot because they are so easy & fun. No stress like a wedding, no running around chasing toddlers, no silly faces or sounds to capture an infant, or the challenges of a family shoot to get everyone to look and smile and all have their eyes open at the same time. I love the diversity of what I shoot but every time I shoot a senior session I think to myself…this is so much FUN! Thank you Weslie for being such a great model today! And btw, when you told me you were going to go barefoot…I knew you were a girl after my own heart. You were such a trooper trekking through the dirt, hills, and whatever plant that was that kept giving us an attack of the itches. And get out…you are just gorgeous!
