Emily + Terry | Sausalito and San Francisco Wedding Photos

I had the distinct pleasure of traveling to San Francisco to capture Emily & Terry’s wedding day. She is a close friend of one of my former wedding clients. Although she also attended that wedding, we didn’t really get a chance to get to one another until the planning of their wedding and lots of time together on their wedding day. Both her and Terry were such a fun duo to capture because they were so at ease and up for anything. Their wedding ceremony and reception took place on a charter boat, leaving from Sausalito, and rolling under the Golden Gate bridge. How awesome is that? More on the Golden Gate later…

Emily + Terry's Wedding on a boat in Sausalito & San Francisco | Photos by Charla Blue Photography

After their first look and family portraits, we headed to Old Mill Park in Mill Valley. We took some magical portraits amongst the Redwoods en route to the boat dock. We had a few extra moments to snag a couple of shots amongst the house boats of Sausalito as well. The couple did not have a wedding party other than their immediate family, so we had lots of time to capture just the two of them. Photographers dream!

Once we arrived to the boat, the ceremony quickly started as we set sail. Emily’s father officiated the wedding and did such a great job at personalizing the message while cracking up the couple and guests. It was truly a family affair as her sisters and niece proceeded her down the aisle.

Once the ceremony concluded, the party started! Which also happened to be the moment that we were approaching the Golden Gate Bridge. I was so excited to grab the couple and get a few shots of them as newly married with the bridge as the backdrop. We headed out to the bow of the boat and were quickly greeted with the strong gusts of winds and occasional splashes of water. Between the couple, two photographers, two videographers, and group of their guests…we all clumsily braced ourselves in the conditions and began quickly shooting. Just as we were finishing up the following photos, a huge wave went over our heads…drenching all of us and our gear! It was quite shocking! I was mildly freaking out about my gear, now wet. But the best moment of the entire day, was listening to Emily, Terry, and their guests laughing hysterically in response to their now soaked wedding attire. I quickly apologized to Emily, feeling responsible, and her reply was “That was so much fun!” BEST. BRIDE.EVER.

The only shot I got with my wet camera….
