Of all the milestones and life events that I shoot, I will always say that newborn shoots are hands down the hardest. Babies have a mind of their own (and if you have one…you know that’s the truth!). But I will say it’s one of the most rewarding to shoot. Partly because I know I’ll never have another one…one and done is what I usually say. I really love loving on these little babies, hearing the family stories, and capturing a precious moment for my clients. I get my baby fix in these sessions, for sure.
Lucky for me, Little Miss Brynn was super fussy the night before…making for a very tired baby and mommy. Which turned out to be a win for me. She seriously slept our entire session and I literally only captured one image of her eyes open. Huge congrats to Carissa & Dave for bringing this little beauty into the world! I just love that my world(s) continue to collide and get smaller as I build client relationships as Carissa is a Lakewood grad, the high school I teach at. And thank you to our friends that recommended me.
Carissa had quite a challenge trying to push baby Brynn out, so much so, that she had to have a C-section that even required the vacuum. It left a bit of a scab on Brynn’s scalp and we talked about me removing it when I post process. She agreed that we should leave it…as it’s part of her birthing story. I love that! Often times as new moms and photographers trying to display perfect images, we would most often just edit out the scabs, imperfections, and even the left over umbilical cord. These days I’m leaning toward the truth, the imperfections, and the stories that make us who we are. They are honestly more beautiful than any Photoshop perfected image. Meet baby Brynn…she kinda looks like perfection to me.
